Our Values

Guiding Safe Innovation

Balancing Progress with Responsibility to Protect People and the Planet

Pro-Science, Pro-Technology, Pro-Safety

LASST believes in the transformative power of science and technology to improve lives. While advances in science and technology bring incredible benefits, we must ensure they are developed safely and deployed responsibly.

Balancing Innovation and Risk

The need to balance the undeniable positive potential for rapidly-advancing technologies like generative AI and gene synthesis against the potential for misaligned systems, accidents, or misuse by malign actors to cause catastrophic harm has become one of the most important projects of our generation.

Legal Advocacy for Safer Progress

LASST adds legal advocacy to the toolkit of those seeking to ensure advances in science and technology benefit people and the planet through direct advocacy and by encouraging and empowering legal professionals to get involved.
